Arrive in Belfast (regular bus services Dublin to Belfast)

Afternoon: free to acclimatize

Evening: 6:30 registration in hotel lobby

Group get together in Bourbons restaurant for dinner

Hotel: Days on Great Victoria Street

Tuesday 31 July

 

 

 

Morning: General tour of Belfast, including visit to Linen Library and/or Stormont

Afternoon: Visit to PRONI and GRO to conduct more research

Optional afternoon activity:

St Patrick Centre in Downpatrick  ($ TBD)

Visit to Mournes mountains

Evening:

a) show at the opera house or the waterfront hall ($ TBD) or

b) a pub tour with a Blue Badge guide ($ TBD) 

Belfast

Hotel: Days on Great Victoria Street

Wednesday 1 August

Morning: Bus transfer to Fermanagh via Antrim coast and Port Stewart (including Bushmills distillery, Giant’s Causeway and Dun Luce Castle)

Accommodation in Irvinestown Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights

Evening:

Clan meeting with local Keys in church hall. Overview of program in Fermanagh

Slide show and presentation on Keys clan by local Keys family members

Opportunity to share your family research interests

Optional boat trip on Lough Erne  

Hotel:

Mahons in Irvinestown

Thursday 2 August

All day:  Tour of Keys family locations of interest (homesteads etc) in north Fermanagh including Ardess, Colaghty, Tubrid , Pettigo and their churches and graveyards; visit to Castle Archdale

 Evening: dinner in local pub

Optional boat trip on Lough Erne  

Hotel:

Mahons in Irvinestown

Friday 3 August

All day: Tour to county Tyrone including a visit to Ulster America Folk Park to see how the family members lived in Ireland and how they made it to the other side of the world.

Possible presentation on immigration by experts

Visit to Omagh city.

Visit to more locations of family interest including Stabane, Lifford cemetery and Cananacor house.  

Evening: Key(e)s family banquet at Mahon’s Hotel. All local Keys family members will be invited to attend

Hotel:

Saturday 4 August

All day: Tour of key locations in Fermanagh (Enniskillen, Irvinestown) visiting more locations of Key(e)s family interest. Visit to Eniskillen, tour of  Belleek Pottery (additional fee) and visits to Donegal city

Dinner: in Donegal city

Evening: Local Fermanagh historian will make a presentation on the Plantation of Ulster.

Sunday 5 August

 

 

Final clan gathering for pictures and wrap up

Transfer to Belfast via bus (3 hours)  

Afternoon or evening: depart from Belfast  

Fermanagh to Belfast
